Jane
Money
Boston City Singers Artistic Director

| Jane Money was born in Auckland,
New Zealand, and received her Bachelor and Master degrees
in music from the University of Auckland. She furthered
her studies at Stanford University, and Boston University,
where she earned a Masters degree in Engineering.
For 15 years, she was
the Organist and Choir Director at First Church in Malden,
Massachusetts, where she founded a choral scholars program
for high school singers. Scholars received a wide variety
of instruction, including performance opportunities, piano,
music theory, and vocal instruction.

In 1995 Jane co-founded Youth pro Musica,
Dorchester, with then YpM Artistic Director, Hazel Somerville,
as a pilot program to educate urban young people in choral singing,
musicianship and performance. Youth pro Musica was originally
founded by Roberta Humez as a non-profit organization in 1970.
In the fall of 2002 the Dorchester division initiated plans
to become an independent choral organization, giving rise to
the birth of Boston City Singers, under Jane's continued direction.
Jane is also the Director of Youth Choirs
at St Andrew's Episcopal Church, Wellesley, MA. Jane and her
husband, Chris Chase, have lived in Dorchester, MA for the past
20 years. They have 4 children, all of whom sing and two of
whom are members of Boston City Singers Chorale division.

Tom Morris
Boston City Singers Training Program Director BCS Jamaica Plain Training Choruses Director
Tom Morris has fifteen
years of teaching experience at the elementary and middle school
levels. Originally from Fairmont, West Virginia, he earned his
Bachelor of Music Education degree at Evangel College, in Springfield,
Missouri. He holds a Master of School Leadership from Wheelock
College, Boston, and a Master of Kodaly from Holy Names College,
Oakland, California. Mr. Morris has taught in Baltimore, Maryland,
Hayward, California and, currently, he teaches at the Peirce School
in Newton, Massachusetts. He resides in Jamaica Plain.

Kathy Blixt
BCS Director of Vocal Studies
Kathleen Blixt moved to Boston from New York, where she taught
vocal and choral conducting and music education at Hofstra University (Long Island) for 27 years. She holds degrees in Music Education (Bachelor of
Science) and Music Performance (Masters), and began her teaching career with
positions in elementary and middle schools. Kathy founded and directs Voci
da Camera, a New York-based professional ensemble of sixteen singers, and
has conducted and performed in Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary,
Austria, Germany, and throughout the United States. Since moving to the Boston
area, Kathy has established a voice studio in Milton, MA, and serves as
Musician Associate for her husband, Frederick Backhaus, organist and
choir-master at All Saints Parish, Ashmont.

Reiko Akasaka
Concert Chorus Accompanist
Reiko Akasaka received
a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in piano from the Osaka College
of Music and a Graduate diploma in organ from the Longy School
of Music. She holds Master of Music degrees in organ and piano
from New England Conservatory. Reiko has been Music Director and
Organist at the Parish of St. Paul since 2005 and is staff accompanist
at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge. She has been accompanist
at the Boston University Choral Society, and organist at the Vega
Hall in Japan and at the Swedenborg Chapel in Cambridge. Reiko
won the Gherardeschi Prize at the 2006 Italian Organ Music Academy
- Shirakawa International Music Festival in Japan.
